Bichon Frises Rescues - Volunteers Needed
Rescue Bichon Frises in shelters and foster homes are waiting for a better placement. There are a number of ways to offer your help. Volunteers are welcome to donate things dogs may need (toys, chewies, medications, dog food, crates, etc.). There is also fundraising, transporting the dogs, talking to potential adopters, arranging the meetings, and promoting their activities. Rescue representatives and people who provide the dogs with temporary homes usually evaluate eligibility of a rescue dog. Some knowledge and experience in training and socializing dogs is desirable, as those who keep the rescue dogs in their houses will care for them until adopters are found. Volunteers are also supposed to handle phone calls and e-mails. In other words, they do everything possible to place a dog in a suitable adoptive home. A rescue dog and its adopters should be a perfect match. If you love animals and want to really help, consider becoming a volunteer and contact your local rescue dog help organization. The Bichon Frise is believed to be a dwarf breed, which was a cross between a miniature Poodle, and a miniature Spaniel with Cayenne dogs. The breed was called the Bichon Teneriffe or the Teneriffe Dog as it was brought to the Canary Islands from Spain in the 14th century. It got its name after the capital of the Islands. Bichons were very popular with French noblemen in the 17th century. It became a recognized breed in 1933 in France. Since 1960, Bichon Frises have been recognized as a French-Belgian breed.
